WHAT WE OFFER
Safeguarding training for care and support workers
Carers support adults who may be at risk of abuse, neglect or exploitation, often in their own homes or in residential settings. As a result, care and support workers in home care, residential and nursing homes, supported living and day services all need to recognise the signs of abuse, respond to concerns and know how to report them.
Our online Safeguarding Adults course is written around the Care Act 2014 and the six principles of adult safeguarding. In addition, it covers the types and signs of abuse, mental capacity and reporting and recording concerns. However, if staff only need a short introduction, Safeguarding Adults Basic Awareness takes around an hour.
If your role also brings you into contact with children, for example in supported living, respite or family support, Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults covers both groups in one course. After that, safeguarding leads and deputies can build on it with Safeguarding Lead Training for Children and Vulnerable Adults, which covers making referrals, handling allegations and working with other agencies.
Certificates are emailed on completion and can be held centrally on our learning management system, so training is easy to evidence. Finally, always check with your employer which level of training your role requires.
Work in healthcare? See our healthcare safeguarding courses, which follow the Level 1 and Level 2 structure of the Intercollegiate Document.
