WHAT WE OFFER

Safeguarding training for yards, clubs and coaches

Equestrian settings bring a particular mix of safeguarding risks. Volunteers and paid staff work side by side, coaching is often one to one, riders and helpers span every age from small children to adults at risk, and much of the activity happens away from a main building, at shows, on hacks, in stables and at away fixtures. Our equestrian courses are built around those situations, with videos, scenarios and downloadable content set in the yard rather than the classroom.

The courses are written in association with British Equestrian and recognised by the British Horse Society, and they cover both child protection and safeguarding adults at risk in one place, which suits a sector where the same session can involve a nine-year-old and a vulnerable adult rider.

Which course you need depends on your role. Anyone who works or volunteers around horses, from yard helpers to committee members and parent volunteers, should start with Equestrian Basic Safeguarding Awareness, which covers safeguarding within British Equestrian, recognising abuse, responding to concerns and creating safe environments. Coaches and instructors working professionally in the sector need the deeper Safeguarding for Equestrians Online Training. Whoever holds the named Safeguarding Officer or Welfare Officer role at your club, centre or organisation should take Equestrian Safeguarding Officers Online Training.

Training covers England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland variants, and courses are updated regularly to meet legislation changes. Bulk discounts and an online management system are available for clubs and organisations training a whole team. More than 100,000 individuals have trained with us since 2007.
