More information

Safeguarding in South Wales is coordinated through a multi-agency system led by the region’s dedicated Safeguarding Boards, which operate under the framework of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014. This legislation forms the legal foundation for safeguarding both children and adults at-risk across Wales.

In South Wales, the Cardiff and Vale, Cwm Taf Morgannwg and West Glamorgan Regional Safeguarding Boards oversee safeguarding efforts, bringing together key partners.

Professionals delivering or receiving safeguarding training South Wales also follow the Wales Safeguarding Procedures, a national set of guidelines that ensure a consistent, practical approach to protecting vulnerable individuals across all sectors.

FAQs - South Wales safeguarding training

The basic safeguarding awareness training is an introductory course designed for anyone who works or has contact with children, young people or adults at-risk. It covers the fundamentals of recognising abuse, understanding safeguarding responsibilities and knowing how to respond appropriately to concerns.

The Level 3 safeguarding training course is more advanced and intended for those in designated safeguarding roles, such as Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs). This training goes into greater depth on topics such as multi-agency working, managing referrals, information sharing and taking a lead role in safeguarding within your organisation.
