Live Online DSL Refresher Training   

This live virtual Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) refresher training  (Level 3) is designed for individuals or smaller groups who currently hold a Designated Safeguarding Lead or Deputy DSL role and need to refresh and update their safeguarding knowledge.

Delivered by an experienced safeguarding trainer via a live video conferencing platform, this half-day interactive session allows safeguarding leads to:

  • Revisit the core responsibilities of the DSL
  • Provides updates on current safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance and emerging safeguarding issues
  • Reflect on their role, share experiences with other professionals and ensure they remain confident in fulfilling their safeguarding responsibilities.

This refresher training is designed for individuals who currently hold a Designated Safeguarding Lead or Deputy DSL role and require a safeguarding update.

Since the implementation of Safeguarding Partnerships, many sectors have moved away from using the term “levels”. Instead, organisations are expected to complete safeguarding training that is appropriate to the responsibilities of their role.

This course is designed for individuals who hold, or are preparing to take on, a Designated Safeguarding Lead or Deputy DSL role.

You will be be given access to our self-led eLearning course after booking your place. This will be our online advanced safeguarding training course.

You will also need to attend the live online training via video link and this includes trainer-led teaching, discussion and scenario-based learning.

Once you book your training, we will set you up on our Learning Management System (LMS) and send you a username and password so you can access the platform. From there, you will be able to begin the Advanced Safeguarding (DSL) eLearning courses before your live training session with us.

Our online courses are designed to be flexible and self-paced. You can start, pause, and resume the training at any time, allowing you to complete the course at a time that suits you. When you log back in, the system will automatically save your progress, so you can continue exactly where you left off without needing to revisit completed sections.

At the end of the online and live virtual training, you will receive a certificate valid for two years. You will also retain full access to the course content, resources, links, and downloads for the duration of your certificate’s validity.

Leaners will need:

  • A reliable internet connection
  • A computer, laptop or tablet
  • Access to the video link provided before the session

A microphone and camera are recommended to support participation.

Learners will receive a PDF certificate of completion once they have completed their online self-led training courses and then receive another certificate when they have participated in the online trainer-led course.

Safeguarding leads are generally expected to update their safeguarding knowledge every two years to remain up to date with safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance and emerging risks.

You can book as many delegates as required. However, if you have more than five participants, it may be more cost-effective to arrange a group session for your organisation. You can find out more about our on-site or face-to-face group safeguarding training, where one of our safeguarding experts will visit your premises at a time convenient for you.
