Our Courses:

Written specifically to meet the safeguarding needs of those working in the education sector, this course is based on our 'Introduction to Child Protection' course with additional modules on Prevent and e-Safety, each taken from the Child Protection Company's standalone courses on those subjects. This enables you to roll out just one course to your time-pressed staff while meeting the requirements of Ofsted in all three areas. It covers recent changes to safeguarding ('Working Together to Safeguard Children', 'Keeping Children Safe in Education') and potential online safety risks.

A general child protection training course specifically designed for anyone who comes into contact with children. It covers legislation and guidance, the different types of child abuse and your responsibilities with regard to reporting concerns. It fulfils the safeguarding outcomes as specified by Ofsted. There are specific versions of the course for schools and sports coaches respectively, which can be selected at the start of the course.

A course developed for the nominated Designated Safeguarding Lead person and Deputy within an organisation, who have already completed Introduction training. The course is also suitable for anyone wishing to cover the topic in more depth. It covers child protection policies and procedures, identifying concerns, handling allegations and complaints, and how and when to make referrals. In school settings, DSLs may need to take part in local multi-agency safeguarding training. You are therefore advised to check your Local Safeguardin Board's requirements.

Written with the help of leading Prevent practitioners, all of whom have extensive experience with coordinating Prevent activity between local authorities, the police, universities, colleges and schools, as well as within local communities, the course is in line with the latest government guidance and fulfils the safeguarding outcomes as specified by Ofsted.

An online e-Safety training course specifically designed for the education sector. This course assists schools to fulfil Ofsted's safeguarding requirement for all staff to receive regular online safety training. The course gives an introduction to online risks, the importance of educating and empowering children, how to deal with online safety incidents, and gives an overview of the different types of social media.

This course is a great resource for schools to engage and involve parents and families in the e-Safety message, providing further compliance with Ofsted's requirements.

Why choose to train with the Child Protection Company?

Our online training courses can be paused, stopped and restarted at any time, to allow your staff to take a course at the pace and time that suits them. You can retake as many times as is needed to pass the final assessment, at no extra cost. The online courses typically take between 1-2 hours to complete.

At the end of each course, successful users are sent a personalised training certificate, which remains valid for 2 years (with the exception of our e-Safety Training course, which is valid for 1 year in accordance with Ofsted guidance). Users continue to have access to all the course content and associated downloads for the duration of their certification.

All schools have the option to purchase an Unlimited Training License, which gives your school unlimited access to specific online training courses for either 1 or 2 years. For a tailored quote, please provide your staff and pupil numbers to a member of our friendly sales team by emailing hello@smarthorizons.co.uk, or calling us on 01327 552030.

One of the biggest bugbears for schools is keeping tabs on everyone's training, and evidencing it when required. Unlike other providers, the Child Protection Company has written its own software system, which gives us the ability to provide a comprehensive management system for schools that will allow you to bulk-upload everyone's details, roll out the course, and programme automatic reminder emails to the laggards - all in less time than it's taken you to read this information! Our system also allows you to monitor everybody's progress and evidence it to Ofsted (or equivalent) inspectors on a single screen. When training needs to be refreshed, the system will send out automatic reminders as each of your staff's training certificates closes in on its renewal date.
