Promises on Childrens Rights not being met

A report by The Children’s Rights Alliance for England (CRAE)  claims that not enough has been done by government departments to meet the pledge of ensuring that policies are checked to see how they affect children’s rights.

The pledge was made  following 118 recommendations from the United Nations (UN), in 2008, on how to improve children’s rights. CRAE reports that only the Department for Education had made significant strides towards meeting the pledge of checking policies.

The UK government is expected to be required to report to the UN, in the next twelve months, on its progress on improving children’s rights.
