This month is National Safeguarding month!

National Safeguarding Month is organised by UK Youth and the event calls upon all organisations that work with children and young people to Stop what they are doing, Look at their safeguarding practices, Listen to young people and then take action before the end of the month.

You can make your own #StopLookListen17 pledge to prove your commitment to the cause. Some ideas for pledges, as outlined on the UK Youth website, include pledging to spend some time reviewing your safeguarding policies and procedures, pledging to run safeguarding sessions with young people, and pledging to offer space on your website for free advice, guidance or signposting on safeguarding.

Safeguarding should be a priority for everyone working with, or around children and young people. Not only is it good to have some form of child protection training to meet Ofsted’s requirements for safeguarding training in schools and early years settings, but arming yourself with a good knowledge of the risks, signs and procedures will better the welfare of the children and young people you work with.
