Child protection statistics on children under one year old

Statistics are being used by the NSPCC to help redefine the key issues which its innovative services for children and families will focus on.  Those statistics show:

– Almost half of all Serious Case Reviews involve a child under one;

– Infants under one face around four times the average risk of child homicide; and

– Between 8 and 12 per cent of all children subject to a Child Protection Plan are under one.
