Concerns over dental nurses’ CPD

CPD is Continuous Professional Development. Many professionals are expected to undertake training throughout their working life in order to stay up to date with changes in their profession.

Registered dental nurses are supposed to complete 150 hours of CPD by the end of the first five-year CPD cycle in July 2013. However, statistics now show that 10% of registered dental nurses have not yet even begun their CPD. According to the same research, only 34% have fulfilled all their CPD requirements.

The provides training courses for child protection and vulnerable adult protection which have been specifically designed for dental practices. Each course qualifies for 3 hours worth of CPD.
