GP’s and Primary medical services have until April 2013 to complete their applications for CQC registration.
As part of the registration leaders have to demonstrate how their organisation meets Outcome 7: Safeguarding people who use services from abuse. This includes:
- Ensuring that staff understand the signs of abuse and raise this with the right person when those signs are noticed.
- Having effective means to monitor and review incidents, concerns and complaints that have the potential to become an abuse or safeguarding concern.
- Ensuring that staff and people who use services understand the aspects of the safeguarding processes that are relevant to them.
- Having clear procedures followed in practice, monitored and reviewed that take account of relevant legislation and guidance for the management of alleged abuse.
Child protection courses for staff will assist in providing assurance that CQC requirements are being fulfilled.
