Identifying the risk factors of child abuse and neglect

A recent report  How safe are our children?, from the NSPCC, identifies nine factors which put children at a higher risk of abuse or neglect.

These factors include living with domestic violence, parental mental ill-health, living in poverty and debt and children with a mental or physical impairment.

Identifying risk factors and signs and symptoms of abuse is not easy but the greater knowledge and awareness you have  the better prepared you will be to protect the children you come into contact with.  The on-line child protection training courses from the all provide information, and useful inks to resources,to help you understand the risks of abuse and neglect, understand the types of abuse and help you to recognise the signs and symptoms which might indicate abuse or neglect are taking place.
