Government Cabinet reshuffle affects social care

Both Paul Burstow and Tim Loughton have both lost their positions within child and adult social care in David Cameron’s recent cabinet re-shuffle.

Paul Burstow had been the Social Care Minister in the Department of Health and had been involved in the recent social care white paper which had been long-expected to tackle the issue of future funding for assistance for disabled and older people. However, the report was disappointing when it was published.

Tim Loughton was the Children’s Minister in the Department for Education had been heavily involved in the Munro review of child protection and a key minister in promoting the progress of the Social Work Reform Board.
