Can schools do more to protect young girls?

Recent cases involving allegations of improper behaviour from adults towards young girls have raised questions as to whether teachers are adequately prepared to recognise and deal with such issues. Many teachers feel that they don’t have the knowledge or skills to do so adequately. So teachers should be involved in ongoing teacher training so that they all have the confidence to deal with all forms of such behaviour.

A new campaigm Schools Safe 4 Girls is asking that parents, teachers, students and general members of the public ask their local schools about how they deal with any issues relating to child protection. What is the child protection policy of the school and is it adequate for today’s needs.
