After last week’s two blogs regarding Birmingham and Herefordshire Councils being found inadequate by Oftsed, Cambridgeshire County Council has been told that it too is providing ‘inadequate’ child protection services. Inspectors made a unannounced visit last month. Cambridgeshire County Council’s cabinet member for children and young people’s services, David Brown, said that an improvement plan has already been agreed, is being put into operation and that he was 100% confident that the lessons were being learned.

Ofsted did recognise that Cambridgeshire County Council was already in the process of making changes to its social care services but said that the new arrangements “lacked rigour and urgency” required to be effective.
