Problems at home impact a quarter of all school children

Researchers from the University of London’s Institute of Education and the University of Sussex analysed the intellectual development of 18,000 children between the ages of nine months and five years and have found that a quarter of all children at school are impacted by problems at home.

They found that children were likely to have reduced intellectual development if they were exposed to two or more disadvantages, for example having a parent who suffers from depression or living in an overcrowded home.
