Ofsted overhauls its guidance for childcare providers

Childcare businesses will benefit from clearer and simpler guidance following a government review of how regulations governing the sector are enforced. Less confusing and bureaucratic advice on how to meet regulatory requirements will enable providers to focus more clearly on maintaining standards and safety.

As the result of a review of the regulations within the childcare sector Ofsted has implemented changes to its guidance.

The changes to Ofsteds inspection guidance for childcare providers have resulted in the online information being cut by a quarter. The mandatory documents providers should read have been shortened from 93 to 93 pages and these documents are: Guide to Registration on the Early Years Register and Preparing for Your Registration Visit.

The guidance now has a greater focus on how providers can prepare for their inspection.

Ofsted have also provided further training for inspectors on checking accuracy and making consistent judgements.
