New health bill could impact on child protection procedures

According to a survey of the risk assessments produced by primary care trusts, the government’s reform bill for the NHS could increase the risk to children.

The primary issue is that children suffering from physical abuse may slip through the net due to fragmentation between the new organisations that are being created.   In the new structure, it will be harder for staff to swap information about sensitive or complicated cases where there is suspicion of neglect or abuse by relatives or carers.
