Childminders role in child protection

Registered childminders are required by Ofsted in England to ensure that all children in their care are safe from harm. Section 11 of the Children Act 2004 places a statutory duty on childminders as “key persons and bodies to make arrangements to ensure that in discharging their functions, they have regard to the need to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.”

Childminders are also required to comply with the Early Years’ Foundation Stage Statutory Framework and must ensure that the welfare of the children in their care is of paramount importance at all times.

The above is an exert from our Child Protection for Childminders training course which has been written to assist childminders in learning about and fulfilling their safeguarding role and responsibilities.  The online child protection course is ideally suited to, and appreciated by, childminders as it can be taken at their convenience and can be stopped and started as many times as required – always taking the learner back to where they were.
