Questions are being asked as to whether mobile phones should be banned from schools.  Ofsted chief Michael Wilshaw believes that they can be used for cyber-bullying and accessing inappropriate material online, as well as them having a distracting effect on pupils when they go off during lessons.

Mr Wilshaw used to be a headmaster and did ban pupils from bringing phones in to school.

Not allowing any pupils to have mobile phones in school would be a matter of child protection – both from the aspect of online child protection and also safeguarding children.
