Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) have announced that Ireland’s child protection services are to be monitored and inspected for the first time.  The new inspection programme aims to make the child protection service safer and ensure that children’s needs are the top priority.

Each local health area will have an inspection at least every three years and will measure compliance with The National Standards for the Protection and Welfare of Children. The publication of inspection reports is designed to encourage transparency and these will be available online.
